Aéroport de Strasbourg (SXB) is one of minor international airports in France, at a distance only of 10 km away from historic city Strasburg, capital of region Alsace (today Grand Est). Strasbourg-Entzheim Airport, being relatively small, stays on second place throughout the passengers served (in 2014 they have been more than 1,167,612 passengers), by its legal status is the manager of the airport concession with a capital of 148,000 euros. A small proportion of flights are concentrated on international airlines, whereas during the high seasons mainly Asia and Africa airlines serve more.

Spot of history

The first air communication in Strasbourg was opened in 1920, thus the airport started functioning in 1935 under a co-financing agreement between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Municipal Council of the City of Strasbourg and the Office of the Bas-Rhin Department.  At that time, the first flights operated between Strasbourg and Paris, as well as few other capitals of the countries of Central Europe. Since 1957, the airport was rebuilt and expanded three times - in 1973, in 1988 and then in 1999. In 1980, the airport received the status of "open airport", which allowed to carry out international transits. In 1994, military base after 50 years of it existence was eliminated.

Facilities and infrastructure of the Strasburg Airport

The airport represents the two-storeyed terminal building. On the ground floor there are 3 terminal entrances to reach check-in areas and arrivals facilities as well as departure area for boarding A and boarding B.
