Mykonos International Airport
The airport Mykonos, or Κρατικός Αερολιμένας Μυκόνου is a Greek airport on the island of Mykonos in Greece. It is about four kilometers outside the main town. The flight operation started in June 1971. The airport, especially in summer seasons is offering the following connections with Eurowings to Berlin, Cologne, Bonn and Munich, Condor - from Mykonos to Dusseldorf, Frankfurt and Munich, with Ryanair to Frankfurt and finally with Austrian Airlines flies to Vienna. The Fraport – a German transport company, started managing the 14 regional airports In Greece from April 2017 one of which is Mykonos Airport. As part of the management and operation of the 14 airports, Fraport Greece has developed a comprehensive plan for their modernization and development.
History and development over the years
The airport operated for the first time in 1971. During the tourist season outside peak hours, the airport has limited flight connections and hours of operation. On the other hand, during the summer high season, it was considered necessary to severely limit the activity of general aviation, allowing only a technical stop of 2 hours. The company's plan includes both direct and long-term work and infrastructure development projects at airports, which will make a significant contribution to increasing the number of passengers and improving their travel experience. For all development projects, Fraport Greece will invest at least € 400 million by 2021. During the remainder of the reconstruction period, it will carry out additional maintenance and upgrading projects at airports, realizing a total investment of 1 billion EUR.
Handicapped accessible travel
Passengers with disabilities and passengers with reduced mobility who need assistance in moving to the airport must have submitted the request in good time by contacting the airline or their travel agent at least 48 hours before the published departure time of the flight. In accordance with the provisions of Regulation (EC) 1107/2006, Mykonos Airport has set the following quality standards for the provision of assistance to disabled persons and persons with reduced mobility when traveling by aircraft. Upon arrival at the airport, people with disabilities or reduced mobility should be directed to the airline's check-in or the marked signs to inform their ground-handling assistance providers of their arrival.
