Malaga airport - Costa del Sol is an international airport in the province of Malaga, the south of the Iberian Peninsula, it is the central airport for Costa del Sol in Spain. Malaga airport is the fourth busiest airport in Spain, after Madrid-Barajas Airport, Barcelona Airport and Palma de Mallorca Airport. This airport is of great importance for Spanish tourism as it serves Malaga and the whole Costa de Sol region. It is located 8km southwest of the city center. In 2017, the airport had flights to more than 60 countries worldwide and 18.6 million passengers. Two terminals were operational for a long time, with a third terminal now is open. The opening of a second runway took place in 2010.

Until 1992, all guests took their flight on vacation via the oldest terminal T1. In November 1991, Málaga airport was extended by T2 "Pablo Ruiz Picasso" and finally in March 2010 by T3. Both have attached car parks and are home to numerous shops, bars, restaurants and other amenities. On Level 2 of Terminal T3 there is also a 2,000 square meter VIP area with entertainment and a separate jeweler. Behind the centrally located Security Check there is another zone with duty-free shops and other shops, catering facilities and an extensive waiting area. T3 also houses a covered area for public transport with separate access to taxis and buses as well as the train station.
